MEC to Award $4,500 in Scholarships

The students must plan to further their education by attending an accredited institution of higher learning to obtain a two-year associate or four-year bachelor degree.  To be eligible the students must have maintained at least a 3.0 grade-point average (based on 4.0 being an A) throughout their high school career, exhibited commendable leadership abilities, and demonstrated exemplary school spirit.  In addition, further consideration is based on the students’ unrewarded merit.

Furthering one’s education is the best investment for success in the future; however, the obstacles facing most students today are the rising costs associated with a college education.  The goal of MEC’s scholarship program is to help make students’ dreams of a higher education become a reality.  Scholarship funds are sent directly to the educational institution and placed in the students’ account.

High school seniors interested in applying for a Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative scholarship should see the guidance counselor at their school to apply.
