Lee Elected to Serve on NRECA Board of Directors

John C. Lee Jr., president and CEO of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative in Chase City, Va. and EMPOWER Broadband, Inc., in Bracey, Va., has been chosen by his peers to represent Virginia on the board of directors of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Lee was elected by representatives from each electric cooperative in the Commonwealth to serve as the Virginia Director on the NRECA Board at the July meeting of the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives.

The Safety of our Members and employees is Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) highest priority. Accordingly, to minimize the risk of exposure to, or the spreading of, the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and to help ensure the health and well-being of those in our community, and our valued employees, your cooperative will be taking the following action. Effective Monday, March 16, and until further notice, MEC will close its district offices to the public and ask its Members to conduct their business with the cooperative through a number of other options.

MEC’s Safety Coordinator Receives National Certification as Loss Control Professional

Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) Safety and Security Coordinator, Matt Shaw, has completed an intensive electric utility safety and loss control accreditation program. The Certified Loss Control Professional program is structured to guide the Utility Safety Professional to manage workplace safety and ensure the safekeeping of the Cooperative’s resources.
