Award of Appreciation Presented to MEC

Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative has been presented an Award of Appreciation by the Brunswick County Board of Supervisors for continued support and partnership with the implementation of Brunswick County’s emergency communication system for the benefit of the citizens of Brunswick County. Supervisor and Chair Dr. Barbara Jarrett Harris presented the award to David Lipscomb, vice president of member and energy services for Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative.

MEC Celebrates “Driven by Responsibility” at 80th Membership Meeting

Even the threat of bad weather couldn’t keep a crowd of over 550 people from attending Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative’s (MEC) Annual Membership Meeting held in Chase City on Wednesday evening, June 19.  Prior to the business session, attendees visited booths with information about EMPOWER Broadband, ElecTel Cooperative Credit Union, MEC’s right-of-way program and SmartHub account management system, Generac and energy efficiency tips from Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC).

MEC Donates truck to SVCC

Thanks to Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC), the automotive program at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) now has a 2004 GMC truck to assist with training of future technicians. According to Jeremy Parenti, the lead instructor, "The donation of this truck helps to round out our fleet of vehicles allowing our students to have hands-on training in a variety of vehicle types." Mecklenburg County resident receives the Electric Cooperatives’ Good Samaritan Award

C. Franklin Dover, Jr., a retired educational administrator and member of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative (MEC), has earned the 2019 Good Samaritan Award presented by the Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC).

Given to an individual whose body of good work has been so selfless and life-changing to others that it is held up as a “gold standard” of community service, the award was presented to Dover on December 6 in a surprise ceremony held during the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas Social in Clarksville, Va.
